JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting Public Works personnel in performing a variety of tasks related to the assigned department.
MAJOR DUTIES
Assists personnel with flushing and painting hydrants
Helps with performing weekly replacement of street light bulbs.
Assists personnel in performing tasks related to the maintenance/operations of the citys landfill, including but not limited to mowing, trimming, road magnetizing, and garbage pickup.
Helps with mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, and removing trees and garbage from parks, boulevards, and lawn areas. Operates equipment including but not limited to, push mowers, zero turn mowers, weed trimmers, pickup truck, chain saws, brush chipper, dump truck, rototiller, and tractor.
Assists personnel in patching and chip sealing city roadways. Operates a variety of hand tools and small engine equipment.
Assists personnel with maintenance of equipment and tools
Performs related duties as assigned.
Grade 10 CDL Holders
Assists in the hauling of material needed for water main repairs, roadway repairs, and snow removal.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Prefer sufficient knowledge to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must be 18-years or older to operate equipment.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Public Works.
Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the work hazards and safety precautions associated with the equipment and working conditions.
Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance principles.
Knowledge of job related equipment and tools.
Ability to handle hazardous chemicals and follow safety procedures.
Skill in problem solving and completing work plans.
Skill in operation of hand, power, mechanical tools and equipment
